Come to Amsterdam!
Players are influential merchants in 19th-century Amsterdam. They produce various goods, store them in warehouses near the harbor, and trade them. By cleverly using cards and selecting dice, they acquire valuable resources. With these, they can acquire blocks of houses, build important buildings, hire workers, and move their ships through the harbor.
Amsterdam is played over 12 rounds, each consisting of 4 phases. In the first phase, you pick a card from the display and place it in your personal playing area. In the second phase, all dice are rolled, and players choose 2 dice. Each player takes the number of resources from that die equal to the result. The result also indicates how long it takes before you can use the resources in a round (turntable). Then you turn the turntable, receive all the resources for that round, and perform actions.
There are 8 different actions that can be performed in a sequence and combination of your choice. Try to acquire blocks of houses in the city and transport the acquired resources with your cargo ship to various ports. By delivering goods, you earn points. The blocks of houses yield points at the end of the game. Progress on the Amstel River earns points but also contributes to the turn order in the rounds. By activating cards, you receive benefits during your turn but also avoid penalty points when you have too many cards under your player board. The goal is to collect as many coins and points as possible. After all actions have been performed, the round ends, and after 12 rounds, the game ends. The player with the most points wins.
