In Brass: Birmingham, you are a competitive entrepreneur during the English Industrial Revolution from 1770-1870. Throughout the game, you expand your empire by constructing canals and railways, and by building and developing various industries such as coal mines, ironworks, and breweries.
Brass Birmingham is played in 2 eras: the canal era and the rail era. Similar to the Industrial Revolution, at the beginning of the game, you establish connections through canals. In the second era, railways become available, allowing you to expand your network via rail. In both eras, you construct and develop different industries, trade goods, earn income, and strive to earn the most points!
Brass Birmingham accommodates 2 to 4 players and has a playtime of 60 to 120 minutes. Brass Birmingham is a revised version of Brass, originally released by White Goblin Games in 2010.
Due to its randomized setup, each game is unique. Bonuses vary by location, and the cards in your hand change each game. Each turn, you choose 2 of the 6 actions available and discard a card from your hand for each action you take. The game continues until the draw pile is exhausted, triggering the next phase or ending the game. The player who spent the least in their turn starts the next round, so be strategic with how you spend your money!
